About Institute of Function

A private institute built around function.

Founded by Dr. Ben Klyachman to offer a more thoughtful, physician-led approach to pain, recovery, and long-term physical capacity.

The Founding Idea

An institute founded by Dr. Ben Klyachman and built around a single idea: function is the ultimate measure of health.

Function is how you move, recover, sleep, think, and engage with the people and work that matter to you. Lab values and imaging describe the body in isolation — function describes the life it makes possible. When function is preserved, health is real; when it erodes, no number on a chart can replace what has been lost. That is the standard we hold every plan to.

What We Are

Medicine designed around
what you want to get back to.

Institute of Function is a private medical practice focused on restoring function — not simply treating symptoms.

We integrate targeted pain management, advanced image-guided procedures, regenerative and cell-based medicine, performance health, and concierge-level planning into one cohesive care model.

The goal is simple: help patients move better, recover stronger, and return to life with greater confidence.

Why We Started

Built because the system
is not designed around function.

Insurance-driven care often limits time, flexibility, and treatment options. Patients are frequently moved through narrow pathways shaped more by coverage rules than clinical need.

Institute of Function was created as a more intentional alternative — one where the physician has time to understand the problem, review the history, consider the goals, and build a plan around function.

Care designed around the patient, not the algorithm.

The Founder

Founded by
Dr. Ben Klyachman.

Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation · Interventional Pain Management

Dr. Ben Klyachman founded Institute of Function around one belief: function is the ultimate measure of health.

Dual-specialized in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Interventional Pain Management, Dr. Klyachman completed residency and fellowship training at NYU. His background allows him to approach pain from both a functional and procedural perspective — identifying what is limiting the patient, then using targeted medical, interventional, regenerative, and performance-based strategies to help restore capacity.

The Difference

Why patients choose
a private model.

Patients do not come to Institute of Function for more appointments. They come for better thinking, more time, and a plan that connects the dots.

  • 01More time with the physician
  • 02Deeper review of history, imaging, symptoms, and goals
  • 03Treatment planning across pain, movement, recovery, and long-term function
  • 04Access to advanced options beyond a one-size-fits-all pathway
  • 05A high-touch experience built around expertise, discretion, and outcomes
  • 06A plan designed around what the patient wants to return to

The difference is not simply what we offer. It is how carefully we think.

Mission

Why this model
exists.

Institute of Function was built for patients who want more than a rushed visit, temporary symptom control, or a one-size-fits-all plan.

The practice exists to provide deeper evaluation, direct physician thinking, and a care model organized around what the patient wants to get back to.
